Year 10 Team

Year 10 Team (ID 1328)

My name is Ms. Babaoye, and I wear two important hats at Coopers school. Firstly, I'm the Head of Year 10, responsible for guiding our students through this critical stage of their education. Secondly, I'm a Biology teacher, which is my true passion.

I've been in the field of education for 4 years, starting as a Biology teacher and happily took on more responsibilities. My journey in teaching has been incredibly fulfilling, and I've always had a deep fascination with the natural world, which led me to specialize in Biology after studying both Forensics and psychology at university.

Outside of school, my passions include travelling and exploring the world and understanding different cultures. I often find inspiration for my lessons through my personal experiences and I love sharing my experiences with my pupils to foster their curiosity about the world around them.

What I cherish most about being Head of Year 10 is the opportunity to mentor and support pupils during a crucial phase of their academic and personal development. Witnessing their growth and achievements brings me immense joy.

Head of Year - Ms Babaoye
Deputy Head of Year - Mr Calixte

Hi, my name is Mr Calixte, I am the deputy head for year 10 and have been at Coopers School since April 2021.

I first came on board as a behaviour mentor and lesson support, supporting pupils in years 7 to 11 with behaviour issues or learning difficulties.

In that time I held many interventions from large groups to 121 sessions in self esteem, anger management, communications, fitness and boxing classes which has helped me really get to know our students and their needs.

Before joining Coopers I was training to be a firefighter after spending years in the corporate and fitness industry and that got pushed back due to COVID, so I thought in the meantime I would try my hand at something different, little did I know it would be in education but here I am! And I haven’t looked back since! What I love about my role is every day is a different day and working with pupils to help them progress, academically and in behaviour is very rewarding.

I love staying active and healthy by going to the gym and eating right. Traveling is another big part of my life which I really enjoy. But perhaps my most renowned hobby is being a massive foodie. I'm always on the hunt for the next culinary adventure!

FAQ'S

What should my child do if they forget their planner?
If a pupil forgets their planner, they can always ask their tutor, Mr Calixte or myself for a temporary replacement. It's important to stay organised, but we understand that everyone has off days.

What happens if a pupil forgets their tie or other uniform items?
In case of forgotten uniform items, we have a small supply of spare ties and uniform pieces available in the school office. However, we encourage students to be responsible and make sure they come to school with the appropriate attire.

How can I stay updated on my child's progress in Year 10?
We use an online portal called arbor where you can access your child's grades, attendance, and any announcements. Parent-teacher meetings can also scheduled throughout the year to discuss progress and address any concerns.

What should I do if my child has an appointment during school hours?
If your child has an appointment scheduled,  please inform attendance via email (attendance@coopersschool.com) and cc in me and Mr Calixte. However, we do encourage parents to schedule appointments in the afternoon/ after school rather than in the school day so that your child's education and attendance is not affected in such a crucial year.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. Your child's education and well-being are our top priorities!
