Transition

There is a significant jump from GCSEs to A Levels/The IBCP Pathway, both in terms of the amount of content to be learnt (and how independent this learning must be), and in terms of the challenge and academic rigour of this content. In order to prepare students for this, each Post 16 subject has devised a series of Summer Tasks and additional resources/information to help students cope with the transition. Given the extent of school closures and lack of public examinations this year, it is even more important that students use their Summer productively to prepare themselves for the demands of their Post 16 courses. Students should only complete transition work for each subject they intend to study in September. Transition page.

Dress Code

Students should use the Summer to ensure they have purchased appropriate clothing to meet the Post 16 Dress Code. The Dress Code is smart business wear and can be accessed via the lonk below. Dress Code

Equipment and Textbooks

Post 16 subjects involve a significant amount of independent study and students will need to be equipped for times each day when they are working on their own. Please see here for our recommended equipment list: Equipment List Many subjects also require students to purchase course textbooks for lessons and home learning. For each subject with such a requirement you can find the details in the relevant Summer Task. If you are in receipt of Free School Meals or you feel you may need financial support for Post 16 studies, you may be eligible for a Post 16 Bursary. You can access the relevant Post 16 Bursary documentation here BURSARY POLICY Any student who is awarded Bursary payments will be supported with textbook purchases in September – please speak to a member of the Post 16 team about this when term resumes.

Parent Welcome Event

Each year the school hosts a Parent Welcome Event to induct parents of Year 12 students into Coopers School to demonstrate what Post 16 life is like and how they can support students. We are awaiting further guidance as to whether we will be able to run this event in September. If we cannot, we will host a virtual event instead. PARENT WELCOME EVENT LETTER
