CPD Coopers is committed to the provision of a comprehensive programme of continuing professional development for staff at every career stage. We place emphasis on encouraging and supporting its staff to meet their personal professional ambitions, whilst recognising that high quality professional development is a crucial element in ensuring that the school's improvement priorities are met. Personalised Programme - A modular programme is available to all staff to opt into across the academic year, to enable staff to develop specialist knowledge in all aspects of teaching and learning.  Our team of Lead Practitioners lead on training, and support staff in their various specialist areas.  Training and development opportunities across all career stages are provided, and an additional programme is available to any member of staff with leadership aspiration. Coaching - underpinning all professional development is a commitment to coaching.  Over 60% of teachers are trained coaches and our coaching triad programme provides the opportunity for staff to engage in professional dialogue about teaching.  Judith Little says "Schools are successful when the following four things happen: 1. Teachers talk about teaching. 2. Teachers observe each other teach. 3. Teachers plan, organise, monitor and evaluate their teaching together. 4. Teachers teach each other." Training Teachers - Coopers is one of ten schools within the Bromley Schools' Collegiate (BSC), a teacher training provider which was awarded Outstanding across all categories in the last inspection.  We are also involved in the Greenwich Child, School and Community School Experience.  PGCE trainees from a number of Kent and London universities undertake their school placements at Coopers, and we provide the specialist training for all the MFL PGCE students at the University of Greenwich. Newly Qualified Teachers - NQTs are future leaders.  A negotiated programme of twilight sessions and review meetings give you the opportunity to develop the professional attributes, skills, knowledge and understanding to pass induction and move into Year 2. Year Two - We want our second year teachers to be leaders of learning at Coopers.  The teacher professional standards from 2015 underpin all of the activities that you participate in.  You should meet the Professional Standards at all stages of your career, but measured over time, and reflecting your career stage, your responsibilities and your skill levels.  As an M1 to M3 teacher, you will be developing your skills in the professional standards and you should be working towards the standards at the end of this period that will enable you to pass through to the upper pay range at M6. Aspirant Leaders - Choosing a leadership area or gaining relevant experience to develop leadership skills is supported by a range of programmes: National Award for Middle Leaders - a course delivered in-house and certified by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. Outstanding Teachers in Education - an exploratory programme providing opportunities to reflect on your leadership style and develop strategies in context. Leadership Project - shadowing an existing leader to undertake a project beyond your subject provides the opportunity to gain the relevant experience before committing to a leadership route, and enables access to the upper pay bands. Aspirant Headteachers - Coopers supports applications for the SSAT Aspirant Headteachers programme and National Professional Qualification for Headteachers. Coopers is able to deliver NPQSL and NPQML For further information about CPD at Coopers School, please email ntoal@coopersschool.com
